Besides advertising, online video can be effective to increase website traffic.

This section is about how to use the power of online video sites to greatly boost traffic to your site. As you saw on the home page, search engines like video content because users love video – and search engines will always show what users want and often click on.

The number of visitors to YouTube has surpassed visitors to Google! Therefore, anything linked from such high-traffic sites is likely to improve your websites popularity – especially if the videos are engaging. These links can raise your Alexa ratings and Page Rank.

Make a short video (preferably catchy) using any free video program that came with your computer, or online tools like Animoto It may describe your products or just be a funny video to spark curiosity.
Post it on many video sites, (yes, there are many more sites besides YouTube) using good keywords in the tags – like “Vancouver Bridal Botiques” if you want to showcase your store and products.
Besides keywords describing your business, add your website – you can even post various videos focusing on different aspects – one for “wedding dresses vancouver”, and another for “bridesmaid dresses vancouver”.
Use the power of your social media accounts like Facebook, Twitter, Delicious to tell people about the videos (your videos need visitors!).
Use contests to award something for most “tell-a-friends” or tweets to your video and/or webpage.
